I bet the driver was bowling along all confident and safe with their 4wd.

Just goes to prove that all wheel drive will give traction to get going but it won't circumvent the laws of physics (coefficient of friction between surface and tyres) when it comes to braking or all wheels locked (the same as sliding sideways). Result=lesson learned?

What makes this all the more hilarious is that Audi have a marketing campaign running at the minute that makes out you can drive on snow etc as though it's not a problem.

What they didn't account for was stupid people behind the wheel.

Not according to Audi - they seem to be saying that their Quatro cars can be driven at speed on icy surfaces (note the lady slipping on the icy road).

And incidentally, no mention of Winter tyres - Audi seem to think that Quatro is all you need to keep driving normally on ice....

Definately not, that has all the hallmarks of 4 summer tyres, and the mistaken belief that being a Quattro you need nothing else!
