Auto box dipstick

Hi peeps, has anyone used one of these?

Mercedes benz automatic gearbox dipstick tool on eBay (end time 16-Mar-11 14:49:13 GMT)

More to the point, can anyone recommend them (car's a '96 C250TD)

just take it to a dealers or a indy . Most will check it for you for free so saving £8 on a dipstick you will only probably use once

Also.... the car needs to be absolutely level and at certain temperature - the former is usually achieved on a 4-post lift, the latter can by checking the temp on STAR - so correct measuring is not really DIY, which is probably why MB took away the dipstick in the first place.

However.... this may not be the case for your 96 car...

I brought one from sealey tools and it is good ! , nice and cheap as well

Thanks for the replies, no a '96 isn't fitted with a dipstick, and with 150k on I thought it might be worth checking.
Maybe a fluid change is in order.

HI, I bought one from the same seller arrived on time does the trick.

Hi,I also bought this dipstick from this seller and it arrived quickly and does the trick.
Just to be sure I had the level checked by Mercedes on STAR when I was having the gearbox adaptations reset after In changed the ATF and the level was spot on.
