Auto Creep

Hi there

It may just be me - but my 2001 CLK Vert does not really creep forwards (and certainly not backwards when in reverse) when you release the brake - its most noticeable on hills where it does tend to roll backwards - unlike any other auto ive owned. Its most problematic when parking as I have to push the accelerator a bit to get it moving - without a clutch to caress, the car lurches forwards or backwards depending on the manoevre....

Also when driving slowly it feels quite "heavy" - almost like the handbrake is on (which it is not). I know its a big heavy car but so was my recetn 5 series and that didnt suffer from the same heavy feeeling - shoudl I be alarmed and is there anythign to look out for??

Try changing the S/W switch to the other setting and see if there is a difference.
There should be some creep.

You need to buy a dipstick.

As others have said check the S/W setting first. This restricts the car to 2nd gear pull away and will feel sluggish. With the setting in S engage D and drive off then pull the stick back into 1st as the car starts to move. If the box changes it's stuck in W mode.
