Auto lights

I have a 2005 CLK 209 facelift, the auto lights have all ways worked, but now the headlights Don,t come on just the side lights, any ideas.

It must be or the the sidelights wouldn't have turned on automatically

cant say ive ever noticed , tbf , I never use the function , I don't like the idea of your lights going off in a lit area . quit banging yer heed amgeed .

Sorry to ask, but is the rotary light switch set to Auto. If its been knocked round to side-lights, then you'd experience what you are seeing.
Of course the switch could have failed

Hi Richard, yes the switch is set to auto, it must be an intermittent fault as the next time i tried them it was OK, just have to see how it goes.

Don't know if this has been the case, but side lights switch on with the key in first/second position, once you start the engine, the lights should come on

The auto lights won't go off in a lit area. It's still too dark.

Of course it is, what's the point of having the options otherwise? Same goes for all the other comforts such as auto wipers, closing mirrors, steering controls etc etc...

The headlights won't come on automatically if they have been left on main-beam.
