At some point last night either my boot opened magically by itself:confused::confused:, or was opened by some other means:dk::dk:, or maybe the remote release was caught on the key :doh:, but either way some scrote helped themselves to some of the contents of my boot between 11 and 1 (when a taxi driver rang the door bell to let me know).

Spent most of the night up with the cops and wandering around our estate looking for any trail of clues but looks like it was a drive up, load up and get out (too much stuff to carry).

Am, now, annoyed, and can't go through the remains until soco's been and dusted so I don't quite know what's gone yet.

Sorry to hear about this hope everything works out OK and all the items stolen are replaceable and insured. At least the police turned out which is more than they do in some areas. Hope they get the scrotes

At least with the majority of saloon cars it's not possible to get into the rest of the car from the boot area!

That's the reason I don't buy hatches or estates, and I try not to get through load.

Soco has been and reckons most likely caught the remote going to bed and opened the boot, sees quite a bit of that.

Not much of value taken (if it's of value it's not in the car overnight!) so no big deal financially (screwfix own brand battery drill, tyre inflator, spare PC monitor, two boxes of Haribo) but annoying all the same.

I'll be checking out the bedroom window every night now like some paranoid person...

Sorry to hear of the problems, hope it gets sorted out ok.

Folding seats ;)

(I know not all cars have them :))

I bet folding seats aren't that common plus if folded down from the boot while the car is locked I imagine the alarm would sound.

Happened to me a couple of weeks ago - rifled through the car and took my satnav.

And yes, I'm a bedtime blipper too now!

I have enough trouble trying to get the Missus to take the key out of the ignition when she parks at home:mad:

You could go for manually locking the boot at the end of the day so it can't be opened by the remote.

That sucks, and even more so knowing it was your own deed that caused it. Hope they dropped the monitor on their foot, breaking it nicely.

Unfortunately it was my "spare" 19" lcd, so it wouldn't hurt. They'll be annoyed when they discover the laptop they snagged has no RAM, no HD and a keyboard full of coca cola.

Just noticed I think my small socket set and gas soldering kit is gone too. bugger.

Turn the key in the boot lock. Three positions: Lock, Central locking, Open.

For W210 you could buy an additional deadlock system, not sure about W211.

There's no boot lock, unless you mean the emergency thingy?

My 2 1/2 year old daughter often plays with our keys and does the same thing, she likes watching the lights flash & the bootlid pop open etc...

Sorry to hear of your misfortune , but this is another example of , to my mind , useless gadgetry on modern cars that I would absolutely not want on any car of mine .

Just what is wrong with putting a key in a lock and turning it to gain access ? Radio or IR devices are prone to going wrong besides being security risks .

I could go on .…

Ours two cars are regularly on the drive open, either we forget to lock them or the little one plays with the keys....

Not great but then at least we make it easy if theres any low lifes round here.

One night the passenger door was wide open on my wifes and we were sat in the house curtains drawn ready for the night ahead. Only by accident did my brother pop round for something that he spotted it....

Hope you get it sorted.
