B Class W245 fuel economy and slight wobble

wobble under acceleration between 15 to 30 mph is worn/distorted driveshaft.
The driveshaft turn normally as you know, but any wear or distortion causes eccentric motion as well which causes the wobble.
Usually it's the right hand side driveshaft that wears in the middle joint.
Replaced a few already for the same reason.

Thank you for the reply.

Would you recommend changing both driveshafts?

You can’t get better advice than the advice you’ve just had from forrera, what this guy doesn’t know about the A/B Class probably isn’t worth knowing…The same guy that did my drive shaft/CV a short while ago – thanks Des, I have a happy A Class once again, no more wobbles.

Hear-hear!
Des fixed my old W168 TCU, and before that - corrected a McPherson strut, fitted wrong way round, by supposedly professional Mercedes specialist.
Need to take my current C169 to him soon for a once over ...

Hi guys,

*******update*****

It’s been a while and I wanted the symptoms to be more clearer for someone to repair but the symptoms still stayed the same ie wobble between 10-30 mph. No noise or new symptoms.

So yesterday I had the drivers side drive shaft changed and it didn’t make any difference still wobbles between that speed range. I had the tyres replaced and changed the tyres from back to front and still no change.

I don’t know what to do now, I’ve spent a lot of money and still no change.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Sorry to hear the problem is still with you.

The key to the solution is as GLK and MickyP64 posted, you need to get the car and the expert together.

There are several components that may be causing your wobble, and what works on others cars may not be the issue on yours. And, replacing parts on forum recommendations is quite likely to be unnecessarily expensive.

In your place, I would take my car to Forrera in London, much, much more likely to get a viable solution and only spending on necessary parts.

I hear what your saying, and completely agree, however it’s a 4hr 40min round trip just to get to the garage and back home and I’m not 100% with driving that car on the motorway at speed in it’s current condition.
