B200 Turbo
Anyone know what or where I can find out what gearbox oil my 6 speed manual B200 turbo uses? I believe there were only 76 sold in the UK which is probably why I am struggling to find out. Thanks

I only found my specs for manual box and diff by looking through the US owners manuals available on line. They were 235.10 for the box and 235.7 for the diff. No idea if they are the same for your car other than to say that the modern trend for gear oil is very thin. 75W for the box which similar to ATF and thinner than engine oil and 75W85 for the diff. Not a single word in my original owners manual presumably on the basis that they are filled for life therefore you don't need to know.

Another thought. Do you know what gearbox is in the car ? Gearboxes tend to be either bought in or if built in house are also used in other makes of car. For example I know mine is an NSG370 manual box and that it's also fitted to a Sprinters and a number of Chrysler vehicles which helps to widen the search.

I don't know unfortunately. 190s comments were interesting, I didn't realise that they were filled for life. I get my car serviced with the Mercedes value 7year+ option. Gets a dealership stamp for £100. Problem is it's a basic service and leaves me to find out and to fit other service parts.

Manual boxes and diffs seem to be filled for life these days the same as auto boxes but just like auto boxes an oil change is not a bad idea especially when it's a much lower cost for a manual. Mine has just hit 50,000 miles which is why I've been looking into it.

What year is your B200

If you could find out the gearbox type number this is MB's list which tells you what the MB oil spec is for each application.

For example if it was an SG150/180 which I think is a FWD gearbox then the list shows the oil spec to be 235.10. You can then look up sheet 235.10 to see what approved oils are available.

Thanks, that seems very confusing but I will see if I can work outwear it relates to.

MB spec sheets are a little confusing but it looks as though most manual boxes need 235.10 oil.

There is some information on this thread which also suggests 235.10 is the spec. for manual gearboxes so that's my best guess. Bear in mind to get a definitive answer you would have to get an MB dealer to do a check for you.

If you do conclude it is 235.10 what you will then find is it's almost impossible to obtain the oil other than at a MB dealer.
