My nephew has an A160 ACS 1999 48k miles and has just recently developed the fault of the BAS and ABS lamp remaining on after a few times of flickering on and off, it is now permanently on. I test drove the car and on trying to emergency stop it seemmed evident the ABS is not working (no judder just lock up), the car will also wheel spin easily under acceleration. I just phoned MB stealer regarding the ABS switch and was quoted £85!!!

From previous posts the recommendation was to change the brake switch - I assume this to be the switch inside the ESP unit under the washer bottle - I also figured the part was not so expensive from the gist of the post.

Any advice please - other than drive carefully?

Simon

The brake light switch is mounted on the brake pedal bracket under the dashboard.
