Hi, I am having problems with my Viano 2004 ambient 2.2 cdi, when I lock it the alarm keeps going off by it self and kills the battery. I thought that maybe the battery was old and it was because it was not holding its charge and the voltage drop was causing the alarm to activate. I have had some repairs done recently on the tailgate and bumper, would this cause an issue.
I have just bought a brand new battery today and connected it up, locked the car using the key fob and the alarm went off.
Please help.

I'm no expert in these alarms. Does it think that your tailgate is open? Have a look for the tailgate wiring/alarm switch to check if it is damaged. The alarm will drain a battery fairly quickly.

I would put money on it there is a switch on the tailgate for the alarm. First place to check?

Its probably the alarm siren needs to be replaced.

When you lock, the hazards should flash 3 times, if you intentionally leave a door/tailgate open and then lock, the hazards should flash 2 times, this is to indicate that a door/bonnet or boot is open. The alarm should still arm as normal even with a door open.
