becker map pilot issue

seems to be a thing at the moment doesnt it, but anyway,

I have buggered up my unit and I was hoping someone may be able to offer a glimmer of hope, last night I connected my BMP to my laptop and it wouldnt connect, I eventually got it connected and started to down load the free software update from Becker when the communication was lost again, this has intern wiped the BMP so my car doesnt see it when I plug it back in neither does the Becker site see it when I connect it to my laptop, what do I do now, through it in the bin?

Looks like this is an issue with Becker, I’ve been looking on the internet and this looks like a common issue, what I thought was the BMP loosing connection seems like it’s an issue when updating, it asks you to press the reset button and it’s after that the unit looses everything, still not sure what to do about it though, I’m going to have to email Becker and see what they say [emoji848]

Assuming you already have your account on the Becker website set up and unit registered against it.

You download the Becker Manager software and then install that onto the PC. You need to ensure that you install it onto a drive which has more than 8Gb free on it. Once installed you connect your becker unit to it and it will be recognised.

Step 1. Use the Becker Manager to backup your device
Step 2. Check for firmware updates and download that within the Software Manager. That in no way puts anything onto the BMP, just downloads it to the local PC.
Step 3. Update the firmware which is now locally held

Or do you mean the connection between the PC and the BMP is being lost? That would suggest either a bad USB cable or an unstable USB port on your PC. First thing to check is the cable by using another.

Did you take step 1 and do a backup? If so you can restore that first to get back to a stable base. Otherwise you will need to download the maps which your BMP is registered as having and then install the firmware followed by maps.

thank you for your request:
If you were asked to press the RESET button after the firmware update, this window states that you must wait for the device to reconnect to your PC. If you interrupt this process by pressing RESET again or disconnecting the device, you may damage the Map Pilot.
Please remove the battery from the device and connect the Map Pilot to your PC with a USB cable only. If the Map Pilot is not found by the computer as a drive, the device is no longer functional.

Please tell us the device ID.

Update #2, Received another email from Becker asking my to send my Map Pilot unit to them and they will recover it free of charge and return it within 3 weeks [emoji106] result [emoji3526]

Thanks for the update. Not seen that scenario before. I would suggest replacing the USB cable before it return to eliminate that from causing future issues.

Is this BMP unit still in warranty? Or are they doing it free outside of warranty, or charging?
 
I'm not going to get too excited unit its back and working lol
 
UPDATE, we I say update, there is nothing to tell, still not had the Map Pilot back from Becker and they are not replying to my e-mails
 
Well it’s taken months but Becker have finally replaced my Map Pilot after it went wrong when updating it, turns out I’d buggered the flash drive which can’t be fixed but because they say something in the checking procedure went wrong they have replaced my unit free of charge [emoji106] all I have to do now is fix the bloody car it plugs into [emoji849]

I have also got a real problem with both my map pilots. Both need different content managers and firmware! Only one PC in House, loads of Macs but Becker no longer work with Macs!!!!!

Does anyone have a telephone number that works for the UK office of Becker. All I get is music! on the 08006123005 number. This is driving me mad. The M013 MP has decided that it no longer has the maps for the south of England. I know they want to encourage us all to move north and take our businesses there but this is a pretty extreme way of doing it!

PLEASE HELP
