Hi all.
My wife has a 2014 b class with the Becker cradle in the glove box but no module, so should I buy a module with probably out of date maps or should I get an alternative module that runs car play and Android auto? And secondly how does the aftermarket module work? Does it pick up Google maps/waze etc from your phone and transfer it to the car screen? I can't seem to find info about the workings on line, perhaps I am searching for the wrong things.
I don't know about these add ones but I know there are clever folk on here who understand it and who are willing to share with us idiots!

Get an alternative module that runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The BMP was designed 15 years ago... technology has moved on since.

That's exactly how it works.

Hi Markjay, thanks for the quick reply. Any suggestions for a module or are they all the same from the same factory and how data hungry is the usage.

I can recommend a specific model unfortunately, but regarding data usage, it uses exactly the same amount of data that your phone would use if it was fitted in a cradle attached to the windscreen and you had Waze running on it.

is the OEM fitted one that bad ? i know its out of date but im sure it'll get you where you are going, might not be always perfect but better than nothing. not used mine much but when i have theirs no issue. just saying :)

There isn't one fitted just the cradle hence wanting to fit something and rather than an outdated Becker I thought it might be better to get the ccar play Android auto gizmo.

Worth bearing in mind that as of earlier this year, Becker no longer support Map Pilot, so no further updates or tech. assistance.

Just to say thanks to Markjay, I bought an adapter box from Ali express (£63 delivered?) and it works seamlessly straight after plugging it in and pairing my phone.
Google maps here we go! which will always be up to date unlike an old Becker system.

That's a pretty good upgrade for Becker equipped cars. My 2016 E class have the Garmin Map Pilot on SD-card, and while I believe the navigation works pretty well there are no more updates since a few years an Android Auto/Carplay module would be nice. A bit more finicky to install.
