Before you drive into London...

Good thing we never go into central anymore.

To me it doesn't look like that many cars will need to pay.

I tried both of mine and they are exempt, without looking any closer it seems most cars post 2008 won't have to pay.

Those of you who are going to avoid London appear to have fallen for the whole scheme.

Just checked and my CL500 escapes the T charge.

Handy to know as daughter has just moved to Lambeth.

Hopefully will only drive in occasionally in evenings to avoid congestion charge.

Not really. - I have no cause to visit London other than as a tourist or to transit to somewhere else.

My sister used to live in Wimbledon, and driving to her place was a traumatic experience so I'm happy to not repeat it.

Mine is fine for the T Charge and upcoming ULEZ.

I rarely feel the need to drive into the centre but I'm happy to know that I can.

More to the point I work in the City and often cycle in through the CC zone so impreved air quality gets a thumbs up from me.

My E55 is exempt from the T charge but anytime I want/need to visit central London I'll park up at Richmond or Kew and get the tube in.
To hell with paying ny congestion charge.

Are you not exempt by lifestyle?

I remember many years ago we were undertaking a job at Hackney College early 2003 not too many problems getting there from Portsmouth but still a pain for an impatient person like me. As soon as the Congestion Charge started it was chaos getting up as all the roads around the zone were packed.
I have since refused to undertake any contracts in London and have turned down very big lucrative contracts correcting problems on the Parliament Visitors Centre and the Docklands Light Railway, yes I'm a pedantic old fool to have turned down such lucrative work but I just can't be bothered to waste my time in traffic.

My W210 is exempt :)

Hmmmm, but how long before it gets rolled out in other cities like Manchester, Birmingham, or Newcastle?
I can just see the bean counters licking their lips as the eye the sack of gold London will make.

Had i not changed from my s211 e320 cdi, i to would be getting stung the extra for talking my Sick boys to Great Ormond Street.

Yes i could take them on the train but i wouldn't want to be putting either of them through all that when there unwell.

I’ll continue my £240 a month season ticket then haha I work near Barbican so take trains in and wouldn’t consider driving. If I did it would be for work and they’d pay any of these charges.

Would be nice to see the ancient tanks known as black cabs getting an update though. Buses and cabs do more harm to the air quality than any of us lot!

Not driven in the Congestion/Polution zone because I've not needed to, but from the number of posts complaining about the traffic, it seems that the "Congestion" Zone mesasures are simply not working anyway......or am I missing something here?

Then to allow smoky old taxis exemption really does tell you that the Pollution charge has nothing to to with pollution at all.

Don't get me started on driving to the cinema in Liecester Square in my youth, and just parking in the street (for free!).

Seems like a very long time ago......and it was.

Luckily, as a London Borough resident, I get over 60's Free Public transport. It's a token reward for financing the Olympics and the Met Police all those years...
