BEST REFURBISHED LAPTOP RETAILERS IN UK ?

I dont use the XP now it is just a back up and pictures . ..But like you i need to go upstream , and j go with the Windows 11, or buy a good internet security suite for this Windows 10 set up i am on now , i use FireFox now along with the Windows security

If the Windows XP is on your home network, then it's vulnerable. The only way to keep it safe is by 'air-gap', i.e. no network connection whatsoever, neither wired not wireless - any data in or out is done via off-line USB device or optical drive etc. Even so, there's a risk of ransomware payload infecting the Windows XP PC from the mass storage device, but that is a lower risk.

Some of my old Diag software for ALFAs/BMW etc only works properly on W XP....which I why I have my dads old laptop with it on.....But I far prefer PCs than Laptops for most uses.....yes I'm old!!!

I think you can probably run a virtual machine nowadays to workaround this.

Lots of replies, not so many suggestions!

Really depends on what you are after, laptops can range from a couple of hundred quid to many thousands depending on the spec.

For throw away machines for us to use around the factory for basic stuff I usually use the Dell refurbished store when they have offers on.

Got below for £150 delivered in May last year.

Dell Latitude 7300, Standard, 13.3" FHD (1920 x 1080), Webcam, 1x Intel Core i5 Quad (i5-8265U) 1.60 GHz, 8 GB, 256 GB, No Optical, Intel Integrated Graphics, UK Backlit Keyboard, 64-bit Windows 10 Pro

Just like me ...I an old school , it is one computer for Mercedes information .And one fpr everyday use .

+1 ⬆️. I have a separate Ebook running XP (cost me £50 from my local computer shop) I use it on the CPU's of some of the older machinery I sometimes work on. it's a tough little thing that I don't mind leaving plugged into a machine in a factory, it is NEVER connected to the internet.

I did run a virtual machine for XP on my 'main' laptop but I removed it as using the little £50 Ebook makes more sense in the environment I work in.

My musings are ,of course , no help whatsoever to the OP . Sorry.
