Hello.
Very new ancient member. Just acquired 2018 C200. Lovely car but rough ride over Shropshire's B roads. What do you experienced drivers reckon to be best comfort tyres? ( 225 50 r17 v+). Not interested in high speed performance, don't need XL, stay in when it snows, and my ear'oling days are over. Any help much appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymentric tyres are favoured by many on here, I have them on my E-Class Sport with18" wheels and lowered sports suspension and they made a noticeable improvement to ride quality over the horrid Pirelli fitted before.

Fitting 16" wheels and tyres (assuming they would fit over the brakes) would bring even more benefit.

Check the tyre pressures, on my C250 MB recommend 36psi 3 up + luggage , on my own most of the time so normally set them @ 33psi and the tyres don't wear in the middle any more.

Many thanks. Actually running at 32 psi all round, but effect not enough long term

Hi and thank you.
Have used same tyre on previous cars, but wondered if something with a softer wall might help, at the expense of a bit of roll perhaps.

Eagle F1's fitted all round on mine also (S204 sport with staggered 18's). The Goodyears are quiet and ride comfort is pretty good ; but then I come from a 3 Series Touring with M Sport suspension and run-flats.

Hi and thank you.
There was a time when I would have applauded the stiffness in the ride too, but I bought the C200 for comfort primarily, and am somewhat disappointed.
I will check out the Goodyears though, as I have tidden on these in the past.
Much appreciate you coming back.

Much appreciate you coming back. Some of the Goodyear tyres may be available with different sidewall ratings,

Two sidewall ratings are available in your size, 94 and 98.

Hello and many thanks.
16" wheels would help I know, but the cost of doing that is somewhat off putting. Would have to have the distance calliper to inside rimm checked of course. My instinct is to go for a tyre change, and hold the 16's in reserve.

Do not discount "All-season" tyres, many have a softer compound and softer sidewall and are perfectly usable all year.

Hi and thank you.
Can I safely assume that 94 would be the softer wall of the two?
Yes Mike

The higher the number the higher the relative stiffness.

Suspension design also makes a difference because I had a Saab that required XL rated sidewall tyres, The ride was very comfortable although it did wallow a little in corners

What pressure caused center wear ?
My car came with 19" AMG alloys and Continental runflats , did about 6000 with 36psi and the fronts ended up with 3mm in the middle and 5.5 on both sides. Now set both the 18" & 19" to 33 , slightly softer ride and more even wear.

I am in the same boat as you. My personal experience is that ContiPremiumContact and Dunlop BluResponse are very comfortable tyres. The Bridgestones I had, on the other hand, were quite harsh. I should add that they were all on 16" wheels. Hope this helps.

Another vote for the Dunlops.

Thank you. Any members runninh Michelin Primacy 4 on C class motors? They seem hoghly rated for comfort in reviews, although I am wary of the latter.
