Bit harsh.

It's quite simple:

Someone poses a question asking for advice for their imaginary friend, Dave, rather than admitting that the question relates to their own circumstances and the answer will be for their own benefit.
Ah, gotcha. 🙂👍

I see that, but how does it apply to my response agreeing re an urban myth and stating, with more than a few experiences, what really happens?

My mate Dave was out dogging last night, and the police are having a crackdown, and he was arrested and charged with indecent exposure, and he wonders whether he can stop the court appearance being reported in the local paper and his mother finding out.

Sorry E55BOF, err, 'Dave', can't help you with that one :D

You said "Don't ask how I know". I was suggesting that it is because 'your mate Dave' got caught speeding .... ahmm...

As @markjay says, it was an oblique reference to your "Don't ask how I know" comment.

And your suggestion is wrong.

a. Why would I?
b. I have no mates, real or fictional, called Dave.
c. I have contributed considerable sums to the French coffers over the years. The speeding was mine, so I spoke from experience. Luckily, I had an understanding employer.
d. I was trying to clarify a popular misapprehension re toll tickets and speeding." Don't ask how I know" was intended to be a rueful expression.

But thank you for the clarification.

MJ didn’t mean any malice. The ‘Dave’ reference was funny and perfectly fitting for your post. 🤗

Never thought that he did, just a case of misunderstanding. I will be extra careful in the future lest I get mistaken for Dave's alter ego😜

I will concede that the sense of humour on this forum is indeed a bit of an acquired taste..... :D

Warch out for HADECS cameras on their gantries. There are I think no cameras in any of the overhead boxes on the M25, and possibly none anywhere in overhead boxes, and the HADECS are easily spotted, not least by the two or three small grey cylindrical cameras on a pole mast about 100 yards before the actual camera installation.
Why all this need to watch this & watch that? Wasted nervous & physical energy attempting to circumnavigate the impossible by what I suspect is predominately a generation that arrogantly expects to be able to do what they please having been allowed to do so since birth. No way is a parent, teacher, employer or God forbid the laws of the land going to tell/order them to do anything.
