Black 2019 SL63 on eBay

A, he probably will have to give a discount to sell it... only the gullible pay asking price, B
, he will lose nearly 20 percent of that profit in VAT, C, he will have to service it, prep it and probably buy a warranty for it. He then had to pay for staff, premises, rates etc etc. Even if he could make the full 8k margin... which he can't.... thats still only a 16 percent profit.....I would not want much less than that in MY 50k investment. When I was selling import bikes for a grey importer and then jewellery for a posh independent we aimed for about 30 percent on the bikes and an absolute minimum of 50 percent margin in fine jewellery..except watches.....where it was more competitive. Much less and the business was untenable.

Now up with a dealer for £58k. Quite a dealer margin there is on these. If only I could find a blue car....
Not that the dealer mark up will be £8k.

It will have been more, if the asking price had been achieved, which it won’t be.

On the subject of colour, there are a lot of people out there chasing non- black / grey / silver German cars, and blue is quite a favourite, but is pretty rare.

So settle down, it’s going to be a long wait

Agreed. Also part of the reason I would prefer to buy one privately. Save £10k of mark up and actually know the history of the car. Not against dealers at all, but would rather go privately.

Have found a chap on the SL Facebook group who has a 2016 blue car. May be up for selling if he finds a replacement for it….fingers crossed

Even as an ex dealer I always go private to save cash.....that said I've found that private sellers lie about the cars they are selling WAY more than most dealers ever do!!

To add some balance, six years ago when I was shopping for a similar aged/value AMG (GL63 not SL63 though!) I found most private sale examples were no better priced than retail cars.

And MB supplied approved used examples were often no more expensive either.

In the end I found a peach of a car with similarly low mileage, but the benefit of a 2-year MB warranty, which on an expensive, complex car does have some value.

Doesn't show very well on the AT search engine, but has been up a week or so. Owner must be a member on here with the dreamland asking price !

Ha, saw that one. Staggering asking price... Also odd I thought only 4,600 miles with 4 or 5 (if 4 previous + 1 current) owners. Could of course be genuine but does seem unexpectedly low...

His argument would doubtless be "find another".....but its a LOT of wonga!!

I always view the cost of a low mileage car as a premium over an average one.

Sometimes, for some people, it is worth it. Sometimes it’s not. Depends on your outlook I guess.

Shame about the number of owners though I think, otherwise it does look great - though £70k is quite a lot more than the £50k black one :)

I sold my bright blue C63 high spec 2 owner with 32k on the clock and got no more for it than a normal mileage black 1 thats why I took a px on it 🙂 and made the money up that way
