The A124 E Cab has a 'black chrome' finisher where the hood meets the rear deck.

The car has been dry stored over the past 3 years whilst I was working away.
I have never polished this trim, but I swear that it has faded, and now has a tarnished alloy look rather than black chrome ?

Can someone advise on what the original factory finish on this trim should be, and a company that can replate or black chrome it for me ?

Thanks

Chopps

Polish it with a bit of solvol, it will remove the tarnish and bring back the shine.

Black anodising is badly affected by sunlight, they all do that.

You could get them redone or buy new ones

OK, some very mixed signals here.

Black anodising is quite different to black chrome.

Can a member with an E Cab please advise on how it should have originally looked ?

I think you will find that it is anodised and not chrome. I have just renewed the window rails on the CL which had over time faded. The new rails are Black Anodise and not Chrome.

I would say that the colour now is how it has always been. I dont think it has faded based on the fact that My W124CE was exactly the same shade and when I replaced one of the window rails with a new one, the colour match was perfect. (no fading)

Do not try and polish through the anodised coating or it will end in tears.
