OK - just been given one of these things - the 8800 version.... Vodafone branded.

How the hell do i even start with getting my gmail (for example) forwarded to it?

it also says 'data connection refused' at the top, and gprs (lowercase) - i thought gprs was the data connection?

The getting started guide isnt much help, as it has screenshots of my machine (even to the point of the voda branding) - with options I dont have - eg web browsing

Im now living in the stix, and as such, I dont really have access to a voda shop / techies who can show me - hence the desparate, and slightly pathetic, plea on here (my most techy forum Im on - the biker forums or the pickup truck bods dont seem too techy to me ;) :P )

1. You need to have Blackberry Internet Service added to your vodafone account. GPRS in capitals indicates connection to the service, lowercase indicates no connection, normally due to non-activation.

2. When you've done it you log into the website they give you, enter your gmail account details and it just works. Really, it does.

It's better with BES or IMAP but works OK with POP accounts. Ring your service provider, getting the account turned on is the first thing.

I have a blackberry, and I also have a gmail account. I've simply configured Gmail to forward all mail to my blackberry email address - If i need to reply to someone, then I just use my company email address from the blackberry.

As above with regard to the 'gprs' get your company to sort out your data account.

1. Get your PIN and IMEI number off the device.
2. Make sure the Idiots at Voda Customer Services have added access to the BB APN to your account.
3. Create an account, add your POP3 info and enjoy. http://www.mobileemail.vodafone.net/

Don't bother with the Desktop Redirector....

Or if you have your own Exchange/SBS 2003 server stick your PIN in here and get the proper stuff.

You got my number if problems....

I use flurry for my personal email and I use the main mail bit on my BB for my work stuff - flurry works pretty good although it can't handle email aliases yet so you need to log on with the original email address and password for your pop3

well - that was a lot simpler than i thought! gmail on my phone, google maps on my phone :bannana: and my email forwarded to me (guy-blackberry@) - to try to reduce some of the spam i get ;)

thanks peeps!:bannana:

they are great tools once you figure how to set it all up!
