Hi everyone,
My name is Bernd S. Koehling. Some of you might know me. I write books about Mercedes cars, vintage and more modern (in case of the SL and SLK). So far I have published some 20 books. My latest three guides, published in 2021, cover the mighty 600 with all its variations (this includes one with a modern Maybach interior), the 190SL and the Pagoda SL. All of them come with many new color pictures, this includes photos of the suspensions.

In case you are interested, you can find all my books on Amazon. Just go to their search area and type: mercedes koehling.
All my books are available in soft- and hardcover as well as in e-book format.

All the best,
Bernd

Hefty discount for MBclub members? 😁

Hahaha, I'd love to. Problem is that I have no control over the printing costs and profits for an author for this kind of books is so tiny that it would hardly make a difference if I would offer you my margin as a discount. :)

Terrific pics. That 6 door convertible is unbelievable. Do you know who ordered it? Don't imagine that came down the production line:)

Many thanks. The 6-door Pullman Landaulet is indeed something really special. There were two different versions offered, one with a long soft top (called Presidential Landaulet, which you see above) and one with a shorter soft top, which you can see below:

I believe that the one shown in the first photo once belonged to Marshall Tito from Yugoslavia. Here you can see him together with Richard Nixon on the latter's state visit in 1970:

As you might know already, every East European or African potentate had during those days at least one of these cars in their fleet. Mao is rumored to have owned at least 11 of the 600 Pullman cars. Here is another, similar photo, where King Fahd bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia (left) visits Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in 1989. That car I think is still in Egypt. But whether it is still being used today, I don't know. Both, the kings of Morocco and Jordan still use their Landaulet models.

All 600 models were built by hand in the basement of the main production line. People had to work for Daimler-Benz a minimum of 15 years, before they were allowed to apply for a job in the 600 model division :)

I’ve bought a few of Herr Koehlings book and they are a nice reference, well researched and well written. Alas I cannot persuade him to complete a 208 reference… 😎

Many thanks for your kind words. And yes, of course I remember our discussion about the 208. ;);)
