can BOSE system be retrofitted into my c coupé? or the similar high quality system. Want to keep a std merc HU and already have a cd changer in. I assume its merely an amp and uprated speakers and thus fairly easy, (maybe even an intergrated small sub?) however stuff is rarely that easy!!!!

price? worth it?

what sort of end result are you looking for? I have the facelift coupe, and am researching my options for adding to the audio but keeping the standard front end

i dont want to replace the HU as i have had numerous systems stolen from past cars (3 subs gone despite a lot of security) and blame the replacing of the std HU as a sign to thieves that there may be more in the boot.

Looking for a better balance in the system as i find the speakers in the coupe not that well set up, and no amount of fading etc makes a difference. Some added bass would be nice also.

You cannot add anything to the std unit as it has no pre outs as far as i am aware and the steering wheel controls run, i think, on multiflex wiring , so they would become useless if replaced with, say, a sony HU.

therefore i conclude that BOSE must be the only real way of improving but keeping a stock look????

agree with you regarding the replacement HU being a cue for "lets have a looky see what in the boot etc"

Do you have the Audio 10 or 20 up front? I was thinking along the lines of amplifier + Subwoofer for a starter, then seeing if that would suffice - however BOSE could be interesting, but I have a feeling it is not a straightforward mod.

will be more straightforward than adding a sub and amp...pretty sure it is impossible in our car. I have the std single slot audio 10 (i think) with the 2 speakers in either door and 2 tweeters in internal mirror casing area.

i think BOSE is the only option without the change. Will be more expensive i assume.

Other option is just to put some high quality speakers in the doors....anyone know the size or have suggestions?

I will look up the part numbers and prices for the BOSE upgrade items, but at about £150-200 per speaker and an extortionate amp etc it's not going to be a cheap upgrade, might also require new speaker wiring :(

 what are the speakers made from - some endangered animal?
