Brakes sticking

The brakes on my slk 230 become 'jerky' to operate when it gets warm and yesterday they were sticking on and could only be released by pumping the pedal! Any suggestions what might be the cause? Thanks

Binding callipers. Get them seen to otherwise they could overheat the brake fluid causing air bubbles.
Either that or the pedal pushrod isn't fully returning so is hloding fluid in the system.

Thanks for that info. Forgive my ignorance but what would getting them seen to involve? For information the car is not often used and would this have any influence on what is happening? Thanks

Sounds even more like siezed callipers then.
Take it to a garage and get the callipers freed off and the brake fluid renewed.
