Just wondering if any S/C 55 Amg guys are running this make of spark plugs, I read if you have more than 450 WHP then a spark plug change is recommended due to heat, I currently have NGK iridium do I need to be changing ?

Never used Brisk so can't comment on quality or result.
Eurocharged recommend a step colder once you go past 100bhp over stock and if you have increased boost.

Most go for the NGK LFR7AIX

Not sure about AMG specifically, but in general it is Either Bosch or NGK - these are the brands MB use as OEM.

Iridium plugs have long service life, however the 40k/4y schedule is there to prevent corrosion of the plug to the seat rather than because the plug fails electrically.

On my 1998 Toyota Previa the change interval for iridium plugs is 100K km (62k miles) - with no time limit. 15 years later, it is still on its original factory fitted plugs... though I suspect that the long service life specified is in part due to the fact the the engine has to come out to change the plugs.

Okay Paul spoke to NGK Technical this morning, they said NGK LFR7AIX, is a non UK part number, and if we need to go 1 stage colder then we need to fit ILFR7H, If someone can give me there best price for these I would appreciate it, if I change will mean I have a set of ILFR6A with only 2k miles going cheap.

Out of interest, what would a healthy standard CLS55 be expected to make at the rear wheels?

Mine was around 420 if I remember and 529 at the flywheel, and was completely standard, after the EC remap was approx 562.7 Bhp 445.6 at the wheels, so will see what its like as I have just fitted the pulley and will remap tonight, then me an simon are off to SRR soon for another run, you are welcome to come along, read the sticky regarding boost leak.

Agreed, I had to hunt around eventually found some here

Sparkplugs UK NGK Champion Denso Sparkplug, Glowplug and Lambda Sensors

Just type LFR7AIX into there parts search.

Yep seems a good price, I also put the part number in that NGK recommended and a whopping £4 more, only thing I noticed was the more expensive ones had Iridium centre, Platinum ground vs Iridium centre electrode, according to sparkplugs.co.uk they last longer, but thats so seems the LFR7AIX are the best choice, and value for money, found a set from the states via ebay works out about £5.52 a plug and £27 delivered, so ordered

You will need to re gap them, can't remember the exact amount but will dig it out when I get home.

Did it feel much different with just the remap, 5-6% doesn't sound a lot on paper? Or is it all about the way it makes it?

Gap them to 0.685 / 0.027 inch to 0.711 / 0.028

You should be OK with the later with just a pulley change.

NGK LFR7AIX now fitted, did not readjust on the Advice of Jerry @ EC and NGK technical Dept, will see how they run in the coming weeks and report back

Okay run home tonight, seems more torque, from low revs, certainly pulls much stronger, up and down the gears better, its like its had another map, who would think a set of plugs would have such an impact, defo recommend changing, Will try and get it on the rollers soon to see what power I have, with the extra work I have had.
