OK PC chaps, your advice is needed......

I'm on Freeserve 512kbps at £27.99 a month at the moment (no download limit) , looking to go to Freeserves 1Mbps (£17.99 a month 2gb download limit)

Question is, all i really do on the pc is surf the net, MBclub, Ebay etc , i'm not on it all day nor do i work from home  sad i know.

I don't really download music or films ......

Is 2gb going to be enough in your experience ? i don't want to get to the situation where i've run out of download capacity, say when you click on your homepage eg. Yahoo, say if that homepage is 100k, does this come off your allocation or is it just when you save a file to your hard drive ?

I'm not really very technically minded , bear in mind it has taken me nearly two weeks to set up my tom tom gps thingy properly and then managed to delete everything whilst at a horse sanctuary in deepest darkest norfolk over the weekend, required in some hasty map reading on the girlfriends behalf ..... by the way cheers everyone who helped ......

Comments please ......

If all you are doing if surfing then 2GB is more than enough, probably more than you will ever need to be honest, take a look and see whether they have any lower download limits!

it counts for every web page you click on - all those 100ks mount up - realistically it's going to be tens of thousands of web pages before you hit the limit but it's something that will probably prey on your mind each time you download a large video file or similar.

Tiscali's 2MB unlimited service costs £24 a month - that falls about halfway between the two prices you are talking about and has all the benefits - see if Wanadoo are offering the same deal

cheers chaps,

probably going to stay with freeserve to be honest, as everything is all set up and in place....

My question has been answered, in the real world 2gb is more than enough....

gonna save me a tenner a month, can start a direct debit into the 'refurbishing rims account' now

once again, many thanks

H

at least they give you the chance to upgrade if you exceed your limit - so it seems like a good deal

Andy

Howard,
Does your existing account allow you to look at your 'current useage'?
If so, compare those figures with the 2GB limit.

I'm currently on Tiscali 1MB with a 2GB limit for £15.99 a month.

I am with Wanadoo (old freeserve) and I have 1Meg broadband with 2 Gig limit. I have called on a few occasions and asked them what my useage is and they say off the record they don t have any current means of measuring the useage.
Anyone know if this is true?
Oh for a matter of fact Freenetname are doing 2Mb with 2 Gig limit for around £18 doesn t seem a bad deal. Plus the first 2 months are free! :bannana:

Cheers

The word is that Wanadoo will start monitoring later this year about October time.

I have just switched to 6Mb @ £22.99.
