i took the car for mot today and i was handed a failure sheet with a 4"piece of coil spring,i have been quoted £40 a side labour plus springs,i havent got any spring compressors so i might let him do it

If he has the correct MB tools that a bargain,, if he hasn't it will be a bodge

£40 a side is a bargain... This type of job cannot be "bodged" because the coil anchor points have definite seats top and bottom.

Unless he has the Mb adaptors he will struggle to do them. We do loads and loads for other garages as special tools are needed.

What I ment was if he hasnt got the correct MB tools he will have to bodge it as the top spring container fixing isnt a normal nut

a good price for sure, just make sure genuine mercedes springs are used as they are colour coded to fit the exact weight of your vehicle. special tool required for the job. hope this hlps. regards steve, merc tech

The roll bar has to be removed too to gain acess and it is a little different to a regular McP strut. The MB labour time is 2.1 hours IIRC.

iv got the springs myself from europarts there not gen.mb but the correct ones for my car £45.00 each

he said he has done them on this model before and its booked in for tuesday so i will have to wait and see

Personally I would spend the extra, or not as the case may be, and fit genuine Mercedes springs.
You will be kicking yourself if the ones from ECP don't last long or don't work exactly the same as the genuine ones.

the springs are fitted(not mb sorry to say but i had already bought them) he did them for £40 a side labour, its a much smoother ride now.
