Hi,

Does anyone know anything about these aftermarket Burmester copy rotary tweeters.
As we aren't offered the 3D surround sound upgrade here in the UK, I thought it may be a decent add on.

Features
  • Original 1:1 luxury design rotary tweeter
  • Car is on, tweeter rotates out, car is off, tweeter rotates in;
  • With 64 colors LED ambient light, synchronize with original ambient light
  • Setup light color and brightness by original command control button
  • Melodious and delicate sound effect, improve the tweeter performance a lot
  • Plug & play installation, no need to cut wire

Item listing

And dare I post it here ?

Also a few other links to more aftermarket items, but I'm only interested in the tweeters.

You see in the thread that a couple of punters have tried these out and found them to be working fine. For me it would primarily be for cosmetic reasons, but if the tweeter was decent quality then great.

Ok, so I guess nobody knows anything about them then.

Let me try a different approach.................

What do you think about them, any opinions ?

They look nice and I’m sure there will be some who would buy them.

I do not have Burmester in my E350 so no good for me.

Are you looking at it from the point of a sound upgrade, or the bling factor?

If the former, there will undoubtedly be better options out there; if the latter, I think it looks a bit cheesy (but then again, I'm an old f@rt).

Haha.
I think it looks a bit cheesy (but then again, I'm an old f@rt).
Visually it’s the same as the optional upgrade that is offered when specking up the car in other markets.

But, I guess you could be right, it’s an age thing.:D

Thanks for your opinion :thumb:

go for it, looks nice

Very nice, I have burmester with the silver speaker covers, but the tweeter covers are just black plastic.
I was looking at buying the copy burmester tweeter covers from China.
But I am very impressed with these, have you managed to find somewhere they can be purchased directly from and the price at all.

When I first posted this I contacted the company in the link.
Here is the reply I got last night:

Hi
Thanks for your inquiry and sorry for reply late.
Yes, this product can fit your car.
Price for one set is US$380 including shipping cost by DHL.
Package include speaker 2pcs, harness, control box and sticker.
Any other questions don't hesitate to let me know.

Holiday Notice

We are in Chinese New Year holiday from 11th to 23rd Feb. During this time we are not able to ship any goods.
We will ship your order in around 3-4 working days after we come back from holiday.

I guess with import taxes (if applicable) that will put them at ~£340 for the pair.

So the Chinese have copied the mechanical and optical effects of the Burmester unit but omit any information as to the specification or quality of the actual speaker and how well it integrates with the other speakers - caveat emptor.

I agree the marketing side of it is a huge let down and they have left you guessing as to the quality you will actually receive.

Here is a link to a thread where a C class owner has also tried them out, he sounds happy enough with them.

I wouldn't expect it to be a 'blow your mind' improvement, but if it's as good or better than the original then I would be happy with that. Let's face it, it's only a replacement tweeter and not the full upgrade.

Like I originally said, my primary motive is aesthetics.
I guess I'll keep looking into it until closer to them opening again on 23rd Feb and then make my mind up as to whether I think it's worth a punt at ~£340.

£340 would upgrade all of the standard speakers for a real improvement to the overall sound with some cash left for some sound deadening.

Larkone, I appreciate your advice and I agree, but as mentioned a few times I didn't start out this search with a sound quality upgrade in mind. I was looking for the 'novelty factor' of the spinning tweeter cover and ambient lighting to match the rest of the cabin. Again like mentioned above, if the tweeter quality was reported to be inferior to the standard tweeter then I wouldn't continue this dilemma. As the only reports I've found are positive, my question is am I willing to spend this money on a novelty item.

Wow at that price I would need to be convinced they sound really good.
Thanks you for taking time to respond.
I agree.

Really like the look of these but not at that money.

I decided to bite the bullet and buy a set.
£297 including delivery and import taxes, 7 days to arrive.

Now to get them installed ;)

The seller told me it was an easy install and looking at the very vague instructions it also looked like it would be an easy install, but as I didn't have much confidence in my ability I decided to get an auto electrician to install them. £80 later they were in and they looked and sounded the business. The problem was, the ambient lighting never worked with the multi-colour function of the 2018 version of E63s. They had the 64 different colours but wouldn't fade in/out, they just snapped on to the next colour. After a couple of emails with the seller it was obvious that I had ordered the wrong version of tweeter and he told me to return them and he would send the correct version.

I wasn't going to pay again to have them removed, so I tackled it myself. Very easy, 30 mins later both tweeters out and originals back in place. I will definitely install them myself when the new set arrive.

Remove 2 torx screws from door card, handle area.
Pull the door card away from the door, I found it best to starting from the bottom. It didn't want to come at first, but after closing my eyes and pulling harder it came off.
Remove the door release cable from the handle.
Then just follow the instructions in the link Installation Instructions: How to Install Mercedes Burmester Design Speaker 3D Rotary Tweeter. It should be foolproof as all the connectors are different and can only go where they should.

very helpful did you notice of any of the plastic clips breaking or did they stay intact and is that link the company you brought them from? thanks

No clips damaged.
Drivers door card was off three times that I know of and passengers door card was off twice.

Yes, the link is where I purchased from. Are you fancying a set ?

For what it’s worth when I put the original tweeters back in, my untrained ear noticed how low quality the originals are. IMO it would be hard to ruin the sound quality with these replacement tweeters.
