...NTG5*2 can have Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, so if this is important to you then check with the dealer if they can retrofit it prior to sale (if they say the car already has it... check it for yourself!)....

MY 2016 got the COMAND Online NTG5*2 unit, which is what this car has. It also has options 14U, 16U, 17U, so it has the Apple CarPlay & Android Auto options, which is good. However, sometimes these options are not activated, and, as odd as it may sound, dealers don't always know how to activate them. So check that it actually works by connecting a phone in the car. If it doesn't work, tell them to fix it before you collecr the car, don't let them fob you off with 'book it in later'.

This is also why a firmware upgrade is important, because it updates also the Apple CarPlay & Android Auto software, and the early versions were buggy and unstable.

(Keep in mind that if you end-up buying an earlier model, e.g. a 2015 car, you'll lose the NTG5*2 unit and will get the much-older NTG4.5 instead - NTG5*2 was only available on the W212 on its last year of production, 2016).
