Hi Guys,

Looking at spending roughly £10k or so on a Mercedes C220 CDI Sport for my parents.

Is there anything to look out for when looking for one??

Any tips or advice on them?

The cars are roughly around 58 plate, the ones I've been looking at.

I have seen one a 58 plate with around 70k on the clock but also seen a cheaper one on a 57 plate with 85k on the clock but with more options (sat nav, heated seats etc.)

Would it be better to for a slightly older so you can get more options or a lower mileage model?

How good are the COMAND Sat Navs?...

Sorry for all the questions but I'm normally a beema man, so don't know too much on the mercs!!

Thanks guys

NAV's are pretty gash if you ask me, the only good feature is live traffic updates (no speedcam alerts, no 7 digit postcode)

Just check where it has been serviced. Apart from that 220cdi is the same merc 2.1 diesel engine block used for decades now.

I opted for paying a little extra and going through MB Approved with 2years MB extended warranty.

Water pump! Mine failed under warranty and its made of plastic (2012 62 reg)

As it's for your parents, you might want to take them for a ride in the Sport then in the Elegance. Us oldies might find the Sport's ride a bit too firm - I have an Elegance on 16" rims and it's a soft comfortable ride.

Full leather, heated seats, parktronic would be nice, linguatronic is not worth having, Comand has good and bad points so not a deal breaker if not there, but nice to have.

I have a 2009 C220 Sport in Palladium Silver that I might sell if I upgrade ,
You can Email me on [email protected] and I can give you some info.
