C 180 1994 trans

My car has gone 203000kms and wonder if it needs new auto fluid. Don't know when was last time done, bought used in 1992 and no fluid changed so far. The trans has a very long twisty dipstick, can I pull this out and check to see if its ok? My newer 1997 C 180 was bought used in 1994 and has 226000kms now. No idea if the trans fluid has been changed at all, I haven't so far. Is one required or just leave it? Is there also a dipstick like in the 1994 model or not. This one is the 5 speed electronic one.

The 4 speed should have new fluid every 60,000 kilometers. Theoretically the 5 speed doesn't require changing but every 100,000 Kilometers will extend the life and improve the shifting.

C180 1994 to 1999 auto

Thanks diesel, I have not changed the 1994 trans fluid yet and will consider to change the 1997 model's in the new year. I hardly use these cars, the 1997 is parked in my garage for a fine day. I do run it one a while like once a fortnite. The 1994 is used about every weekend or more often. The 1994 is for sale, but unable to get a decent price for it,yet.
