Hi

Iv just bought my first Mercedes-picking it up next week (c 270 Elegence CDI SE, Silver, auto-tiptronic, cream leather on a 53 2003 plate)
What i would like to know what are the differences between this model and the facelifted 2004 version both internally and externally)
Also are the headlights on the 2003 xenon? Also was it an option to have bi xenons on these models?

Sorry for sounding a bit dumb but i am new to Mercs

Hi Jugga welcome.

There are quite a few differences both internally and externally.

Internal
1) Revised centre console
2) Revised Sound system
3) Revised instrument cluster
4) Revised front seats

External
1) Revised front and back bumpers, i believe the back under relates to whats under the bumper skin
2) Revised front lights, clear instead of frosted inc fog lights
3) Revised front grill
4) Revised mirror indicator lights

No doubt I've missed a few that others will pick up.

Regarding the lights if the car is fitted with halogens you can carry out a straight swap with the facelifted versions if you want to go bi-xenon those go straight on as well except you require someone with Star to change the setting to XENON PRESENT.

Welcome Jugga! You will find everybody on here friendly and most helpful!!

Get the VIN number from the dealer and enter it onto the URL here: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=27571 That will tell you exactly what the car was built with.

BTW - we are a curious lot so posting the results is good and someone may even pick up on stuff you would not have known otherwise. Make sure you delete the VIN, chassis number etc. first if you do post it.

Steve

Thanks for the replies guys.
Wully is it possible to have the clear headlight cluster instead of the frosted?
I phoned the dealer up and he said they have xenons but was too sure if they were bi-xenons.
Gollom-hi.
The VIN number link seems a great idea.
Ill definetlly get some good info from there.

Thanks again

Anyone else out there who has had 270 class diesel for seven or more years without hassle? S ometimes seems only the folk unlucky enough to have problems.

Ive had mine about 15 months ..But in that time i have done 24,000 miles.
I do my own servicing very regularly and I had the ATF and filter changed at 40k..
Recently treated it to front and rear pads and discs..
Its never let me down..Nothing has fallen off.. Nothing has gone wrong and I have no rust..
My long term fuel consumption has averaged over 43.5 mpg over the last 12,000 miles.
I regularly get 53mpg on a decent run.

Other than that its bloody horrible :D

No, I've only recently come to my senses (questionable) and been converted to MB, but so far I'm loving it :bannana:
