So question is: how moronic of an idea is it to retrofit a mercedes sunroof to a non sunroof car? I am looking at a super low mile 300ce 24 and i would really like the roof for spring and autumn driving ( i am in spain). Have found a complete used sunroof. Is this a whole world of pain?
I would respectfully suggest that , while not impossible , short of replacing the complete roof with the sunroof in it , to get the alignment completely right , which is absolutly critical ( even replacing the moving parts in an existing roof with alignment jigs is far from easy ) , it is a very difficult task .
What would be much easier , would be to find a specialist installer of Webasto aftermarket sunroofs ( the type with either fabric , or sliding louvres , and some of these can be electric operation ) . I know there is an agent near me in East Kilbride , Scotland , but there should be a network of agents all over Europe .
Here is some info ; I would strongly suggest this , at least if they bu66er up your car , they will have insurance to cover it !
Getting something like this professionally installed would not be cheap , but surely preferable to the risk of a DIY venture where you have no one to go to for help ? My sister had a panoramic roof like the bottom load one shown , in her Golf Estate as a factory option , and it was superb .
Experience open-air exhilaration! Our panoramic roofs offer spaciousness and clear skies, turning every drive into pure joy.
