C180 (W202) Starting Problems

HI, I am after some advice please. I have a 98 W202 C180. After filling up with petrol the other night, I came to start the car and nothing happened. All ignition lights on and normal and a 'click' coming from the starter motor soleniod. Had to bump start the car to get it going, and it has been fine after that. I suspected the starter motor, so took it out, cleaned it up, greased it, etc and all appears to be ok now. Starts ok, soleniod activates, etc. Just a little concerned it's a sign of problems to come. I also thought it may be the immobiliser or another electrical type fault? - Any suggestions or things to try would be appreciated.

I've had the same happen a couple of times. I've gone back to the car an hour later and it's started fine - strange. I think you've done the right thing with the overhaul, hopefully it'll never do it again.

sounds daft I know but I had this same problem with a bike in the past, after changing and sorting everything it turned out to be a duff battery. Just an idea.

Thanks for the help. Once I'd done a bit more troubleshooting, and got hold of a tester. It turned out to be a duff battery. (thanks Mark!!). Saved me a lot of money on a starter motor !!
