C200 cdi 2004 mpg

I was getting similar until I changed the Thermostat and Cleaned the MAF and checked and topped up Auto fluid. Now average 55mpg(by display) on A roads over 650 miles before light comes on. I also much to the annoyance of SWMBO check tyre pressure every week.

Is there anyone who could let me know how to change/clean the MAF? Any help much appriciated. (220cdi 2008 manual)

C220 CDi fuel economy

My 52 plate C220, 70K miles, averages 43.5 mpg by actually calculating at fill ups. The on board trip comp is pretty optimistic, reads around 55mpg. The best I ever got was on two long motorway drives when I did 616 miles on a tank!! around 48mpg. Never go over 75mph, cruise between 65 - 70, and think twice before overtaking anything!!
Good luck.

Get an aerosol MAF cleaner from Halfords. The MAF is in the pipe leading into air filter. Unscrew the pipe and spray cleaner into pipe and carefully over Maf censer(it can be very fragile). Leave them to dry completely before reassembly .

In more detail find this thread its a different engine by the principle is the same
HOWTO: Clean the MAS/MAF - w210
I'd attach a proper link if I knew how sorry.
