All lights on dash have stopped working and the front lights come on as soon as ignition is turned on. A ex Mercedes mechanic reckons its the front SAM/Fuse Box.

He said it could cost €350 for the part and then the it has to be programmed by a mercedes proogramme, talking about €1000 is that true, can you buy a pre-programmed one for the C200 (2002) anywhere?

Thanks

Hi,
As far as i,m aware they have to be coded/programmed to your actual chassis number, this can only be done by a main dealer or a suitably equipped Indy as you need STAR (MB diagnostic tool).
I think you have got the programming price wrong or its ridicously over priced, should,nt cost more than 1/2 hours labour charge for the programming IMO.

The programming takes an incredible 5 minutes and the part costs 250 Euro.

No matter which way you look at it. That doesnt add up. You can happily drive the car with no programming at all.

If you dont program it then you will have problems with
- rain sensor
- daylight sensor
- aircon sensor readings
- xenon headlights

None of these things matter in daylight. Checked the fuses ?
