C200 w204

Mercedes sell parts for their cars.

That's not quite what he means - cold air intake (CAI) is a specific part from the aftermarket tuning world where the standard airbox pulls from somewhere less than optimal

They're rare in the Mercedes world because the factory airboxes usually route to the slam panel or in front of the radiator anyway, so little to no benefit to be had.

Yeah I was wondering if I can buy one and just connect it where the old filter was and extend it up towards the wind shield with heat proof cover if I can do that.

Cool intake air can have a real benefit on a naturally aspirated engine because it's a way to improve volumetric efficiency but is it still so important on a forced induction engine except perhaps at full throttle.

The W204 has a cold air intake anyway as it's routed in front of the radiator.

Something you will love.... because of drive by wire throttle bodies are ultimately controlled by the ecu and not your right foot there is manipulation within the software to the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal this desensitising is primarily done to achieve good mpg and pollution figures.

And your car will have such pedal developer coding , it's called 'Pedalkennlinie', the trouble is it causes a disconnect between the action of your right foot and when the car moves ( pedal lag ) this really shows up when pulling out of junctions etc , compounded with you have only one turbo and not the immediate spool of the sequential bi-turbo OM651 set up of the 220 and 250 CDI's ( it makes great improvement to these too )

It will really transform that first quarter of accelerator pedal travel .
