Hello,
I would like to share my latest experience with my CL55 AMG Kompressor, y.2005. And this experience can be useful for all W220/C215 owners.
After the issues I had with the gear selector which were fixed by getting a donor selector and moving the ignition code from my old selector to the donor, I experienced these issues which were not present before:
1. When turning off the car using the key, when removing it with the door open on the screen it would appear Red Color Display message: Move Gear Selector to P, although the gear selector was sitting on P.
2. I couldn't use the button on the gear selector to start-stop the car in the keyless go mode.
3. The keyless button on the door handle was not working when trying to lock the car.
4. When entering the car it was not showing the display message with the Key Photo saying not to forget the key inside the car.
5. The C/S button (that puts it on sport mode) on the gear selector was not working.
First attempt:
I removed the gear knob in order to remove the gear plate and to check if the C/S button cable was connected to the button and even sprayed it with spray against corrosions thinking that that was causing the problem, but it didn't help at all.
Second attempt - fixed.
I removed the gear knob, then I removed the center console in order to open more space there. I noticed there was a free unplugged black color connector. It was hard to see the place where it was not unplugged, but I supposed it had to do with the gear selector. I remembered that the gear selector has 2 x ports for connecting cables (I have a spare gear selector at home). Attached here is a photo of both ports. I disconnected the port 1 in the picture and re-connected it just for any case. Then I noticed that the free lose cable is the one that should connect to port 2 in the picture. I sprayed in order to clean it, connected it to the gear selector. I then tested it and issues from above with nr 1, 2, 3, and 4 disappeared. This meant that the mechanic who swapped the gear selectors forgot to connect it. Only point 5 is still present. but I will create another post about it after I will understand what is wrong with it and how to fix it.
