Hi, i have a 2007 CLS 350, i unlocked the car today and as you open the doors, the mirrors automatically unfold. As i opened the driver side door the mirror automatically overextended to the furthest position, made a snapping sound and broke. Its now very loose but still attached. The motor for adjusting the actual mirror still works, so does the blinker however the mirror does not fold in anymore and is completely floppy. Any advice? Thanks

When a pedestrian walked into the door mirror on my C class it unlatched, apparently a safety measure. The dealer tech simply held it in the open position and gave it a sharp knock toward the front of the car to lock it in place. Worked fine but I wouldn't have had the nerve to hit it that hard!

You can usually just grab hold of it and click it back into position , on my 2006 c class sometimes just using the mirror fold motor to both extents clicks it back into position.

PS On cars of this vintage it's reccommended not to fold the mirrors unless you really have to, the wires are thin and not particularly robust.

Same thing happened on my 212 when opening it first thing in the morning after a hard frost a couple of weeks back....just went all the way forward. Thought it was a gonna....I just pushed it back manually and drove. Once it had warmed up I opened and closed it a few times and then it stopped at the correct place and has been fine since. I wonder of the ice had frozen in place whatever is supposed to stop it going too far forward.
