C220 CDI Auto "51" Cuts Out!!

Hi everyone im new to this site and i have joined as im at the end of my tether. i bought this car for 11k in 2008 and have had nothing but problems iv had new fuel pump air, flow meter, battery etc etc etc..

my latest problem is that when steadily driving along my car cuts out all my clocks ie speed and revs die but screen stays on with mileage etc on with no fault codes or warnings!! after this happens and i come to a stop i can put it in park and turn the car back on straight away and it's completely fine. I called the RAC last time it happened and tehy found no fault codes or anything he didn't have a clue!!! surprise!!..

i would greatly appreciate it if someone has any ideas or advice as the usual thing i get from garages is wait until it breaks!!!! The thing is i travel to and from sheffield a few times a week and if it happens on that journey im pretty much off a cliff so then it really will be broken..!! so anything would be a great help and if i have to go to a main dealer then i may just have to bite the bullet...

Do these have crank sensors? And isn't Ian Walker (124 Works) up that part of the country? Would be worth having a word with him perhaps?

sorry for being stupid but im really not down with all the car ins and outs so to answer your question. that guy is in preston about 50 miles from me but def worth a look and a phone call thanks for that.. i will be glad of any answers to be honest.
