Mercedes C220CDI
Hi , I am new to the forum and I would like some help.
I have just taken delivery of my new company car. This is a 2014 C220cdi . I love the car but I have a problem. I have tried to get a tow bar but have been told that there isn't one available until September because Mercedes have changed the car so the new tow bar is still being developed. The car is a W204 I believe and has been around since 2008 in the spec so is this true or am I being misled ? Thanks

I have a 2008 S204 (estate, not saloon) C220Cdi Elegance, it has a factory fitted hide-away tow bar which I believe can only be factory fitted during manufacture.

For the 220CDI (204 series) there are plenty of towbars on the market to meet your needs.
Be careful on the 205 series as the MB towbar does not work if your have the premium pack with remote access due to rear bumper sensor. There are new detactable towbars from Westfalia and Thule that will work as neither require a bumper cut. The dealers are ignorant on this pint, so check with a good tow bar compant

I have a 2013 (204 series) C220 sport plus estate. I had the Westfalia detachable towbar fitted but this required a software update for the vehicle to inhibit the car's rear sensors when the towbar is in use. It also cuts out the car's fog lamp and switches on the trailer lamp when in use. Also, I like the on screen display that warns if a trailer light has failed. With regard to the Westfalia tow bracket, it fits so snugly up behind the rear bumper that when not in use, you wouldn't know it was there.
