Hi there,

I have a C220 and got the message Tyre Pressure on my dashboard. I checked the tyre, and there found a nail in the middle of the front tyre (driver's side). The AA guy came, and replaced the nail with a black rubber thingi.

He told me that I need to get this repaired. Also, I can only drive up to 100 miles at the max speed of 50 MPH.

The tyre is new ish as I replaced a few months ago and wanted to repair rather than replace. So the next morning, I took the car to the local private garage and they told me that would do the same as what the AA guy did.

My question that can the tyre be repaired? If so where would I get this from?
thanks

Go to a local tyre shop and they'll repair it properly. The proper plug has a flat base and is cone-shaped, and when applied from the inside, the air pressure inside the tyre improves the seal (something that the AA guy wouldn't have been able to do at the roadside, without removing the tyre).

There will be people here who'll tell you that they ran their car with a similar temporary repair for xxxxx miles and it was absolutely fine, but that's down to personal risk appetite, and mine is very low.

I had a permanent repair undertaken on an SUV. Tyre removed, plugged, glued, replaced and rebalanced. Tyre was still on the car when I sold it with a further 10k on the clock.
