C230 Kompressor ...Noises over ramps

Hi

My C230 K is making some horrid noises when I go over ramps... I wish to overhaul the suspension and want to know what I need to replace in order for the noises to go away...Im thinking the shocks and springs, should that remedy the problem, no parts have been changed on the car since manufacture and I think its time she got a underbody overhaul, any advice on specific components to be used as replacment to the original parts.

Hi

I had a 190E that used to thump when going over speed humps, i changed steering idler arm and the front shocks before realising it was an engine mount. Just my experience, i would hate for someone to make the same mistakes.

Possibility of one or more broken springs is quite likely. Other weak spots are the top and bottom front suspension ball joints. Whatever you renew do both sides to keep the car suspension balanced.
BILSTEIN make good replacement shocks. Best to stick to MB springs if required.

I think I will replace the following items for the sake of peace of mind as they have never been changed and that way I can forget about them...

Shocks all round
Springs all round
Engine Mounts
Ball Joints (top and bottom) all round

Is there anything else I can replace whilst this work is being undertaken???

If it was me i would only replace what needs replaced, keep your funds for when something unexpected jumps up.

i have a bang on the back of my kompressor! which i thaught was a broken spring! turned out to be diff mounts!
