i have a 1999 c280 with 60000 miles on clock on some occasions if i go above 4500 rpm the engine goes very lumpy and idles as if its running on 3 cylinders .if i switch off ignition and restart it runs like a dream.ive had the car serviced ( new plugs leads etc) and the garage could not find any faults on there computer any ideas please.

Airmass sensor as usual?

£250 and yeah its an easy fix, do a search and you should even find some pics of where it's located. It's near the airfilter box IIRC

Graham's MAS thread and a link to my original thread in the first post.

Link to a picture on MBWorld showing MAS location.

If you try a forum search for MAS you'll get an error message but if you search for MAS* you'll see loads of posts from people with similar problems that was tracked to a faulty MAS unit.
