Practical Performance Cars apparently have a 6 page buyer's guide for the C43.
I haven't seen it yet, just been told about it by a mate so will have to buy that tomorrow. I've got very few mags that feature my car (not counting MB magazines), seems to have gone very unnoticed by the press at the time it came out. Although I was in my late teens back then too and I never considered Merc's cool or interesting at the time so it may just have been me missing it...

It's T124LLE, if that's your old car?
Looks like a very nice spec too (sunroof, parking distance control) in dark blue.

Doesnt tell you much, read it when mag delivered, gearbox weak, v8 engine tough but we all know that:) .

Oh yeh also looks gay! just joking:D :D

I will have to dig it out again but i remember some of the prices for parts and servicing etc being way out and thinking how to frighten prospective purchasers off.

Found it:) bloody loft, coil packs are £150 each and plugs are £7.50 each dont know where he got his from but my plugs were £4 each ( and i thought that was dear) and i have seen bosch coil packs for just over £60.

I realise they have to cover as much as possible in a small space but i am sure there are lot of other errors.

Ps PPC is a bloody good read walker is interesting.

Gearbox weak? I can only speak from my own experience and friends/ colleagues: I know 9 other owners and touch wood they haven't had problems. Gearboxes go - sometimes - that's all. I do however know one of the posters on here was recently unlucky.

Highest mileage one I know is over 150K with no issues - he just had the gearbox oil changed at the right times (FMBSH).

And regarding that car's looks, I think it looks brilliant.

Ah OK - not mine.

Mine's going to be in Performance Car not Practical Perfomance Car

Hi,
Thanks, for the compliment
No Xenons though  (yet), which amazed me as i thought they were standard, on a C43.
The colour is green/black metallic.
Its amazing what the lighting in the studio hid you can,t see the dodgy paint on the rear passenger side door, and the scratched roof.
I did,nt have much input into the article, and some of the quotes i would say are inaccurate.

Nope - options. My first one didn't have them.

There's another thread running where we working out what C43 options actually were. By memory

Xenons
Park Distance Control
Auto Dipping RVM
Rain Sensing Wipers
Folding Mirrors
Sun roof
Rear blind

that is quite pathetic not to have xenons as standard on an AMG car (imo)

Back in 98/99/00 they were fairly new technology so probably not seen as "must have". Now I'm used to mine I wouldn't want to go back.

C32's had bi-Xenons as standard from the off - err 2001 I think

Well mine is soon to have OEM Xenons fitted, as i now have all the bits to do this the only thing stopping me at the moment is the correct identification of the separate headlamp wash/wipe loom, apparently there was a loom manufactured for fitting the headlight wash/wipe as an accessory.

Yeah it makes sense to have the saloon in "Practical Performance Car" and the estate in "Performance Car". Nothing more impractical than an estate...

Heh Heh.

Strange coincidence actually. I was keeping quiet till I'd seen the new issue of Performance Car and thought "hey how come all these people know about it and I haven't even seen it yet?". Then I read the post properly.

You are right mine really is a practical performance car. Same as my mates round the corner - one with V6 RS4 Avant running sqillions of BHP and the other with a V8 RS6 Avant.....

Anyway these C43 buyers guides are like buses. You don't see one for ages then two come along at once.
