Can anyone enlighten me on the spec options on the C63 V8 4 litre cabriolet. Scrolling through the adds, there’s mention of ‘Premium’ , & ’S’ models etc. I assume the S model is the 510+bhp version. As a buyer should I be looking for a ‘Premium’ model? Or to put it another way, £ for £ which is ‘the one to have’ ?
thnx.

You are correct, the S is the 510 bhp version. Off the top of my head it comes with bucket sport seats, bigger discs, red brake callipers, electronic slip diff. There are a host of optional extras for both cars, most are down to personal preference, 360 camera, upgraded 19”/20” wheels, heads up display, carbon centre console, IWC analogue clock etc etc.
Someone might correct me here but I think pre facelift (pre 2019) the C63 and C63S only came as premium, whereas the C43’s came in premium and premium plus? The facelift model initially came in both 476bhp and S 510bhp but now only comes in the S 510bhp I believe?
You will probably be even more confused now😖

Thnx that is a big help. The information given would take ages trawling through the technical bumf. Cosmetics aside, do you ( anyone) know if the extra 34 bhp on the S model makes a significant enough difference to warrant hunting one down and forking out the extra £.
thnx.

Only you can decide, but 34 PS won’t make a great deal of difference - you’re a much better driver than me if you can sense the difference without measuring it.

If you’re not bothered about the other bits, want more power - and are happy to modify your car - then you would be better off remapping to get much more than 34 PS.

Personally I would go for the S so that I can drive a standard car with the most power available, without warranty and insurance complications associated with modifying.

I have the 476bhp which is plenty enough for me. If you want more than that you can get it remapped which will work out a lot cheaper than the extra £££ for the S, although I wouldn’t advise this if the car is still under warranty as it may invalidate the warranty. I actually prefer the comfort of the seats in the non S version, but of course that is just a personal thing. I think one of the most expensive upgrades is the split 19” front and 20” back wheels, so if you’re looking for a high spec model that’s a good place to start.

i am picking this up very late, for which apologies, as I have a question.

Firstly, I ordered my C63S around the time of this thread. It's finally due to arrive next month. I am new to ordering new Mercedes, so I may be wrong here, but everything stated here as options, was standard for my car, except the HUD. I actually panicked a bit when I saw this thread for the first time earlier this week, as I really wanted the 360 camera. I rang my dealer to be told it came as standard on my car, along with the 19/20 wheels, carbon console, IWC clock.

The only options I recall seeing when ordering my car were the HUD and I think possibly an advanced lane departure function, which I opted not to have. From memory these were the only two options available on my car, everything else mentioned here was standard.

In the end the only options I did add from MB were the exterior carbon packs, which were not initially shown and have been semi discontinued and which it took some persuasion to get.

I have however seen on a US board, owners talking about options such as ventilated seats, carbon fibre steering wheel, and so on. I am not sure I would want either, but it made me wonder, are there any other options that are or were available in the UK? I would probably have contemplated a CF/alcantara wheel as seen in the US but it doesn't appear in the UK options list now, I wonder if it ever did?

Thank you in advance.

I can only think that they changed the standard spec on the facelift models. When I was looking at the beginning of the year for a C63 the facelift was out of my price range so was looking at 2017/2018 models. The carbon console with IWC clock was definitely an optional extra for these. I think you are correct on the wheels tho 19/20” wheels were standard on the C63S but an optional extra for the C63.

To the best of my knowledge, 20-inch wheels were never standard or an option on the C63S, 18-inch was standard and 19-inch the option. I stand to be corrected though.

Thank you. My impression is that as the model run comes to an end, MB have both a) thrown in previous options as standard, which is usual for end of line cars, and b) possibly withdrawn some options, although I have no evidence for b) and would be interested in knowing if anyone here does..

I checked my invoice and the only MB option, apart from the exterior CF, that I paid for was ironically for Obsidian Black paint, which must be a nice earner - ordinary black paint at £600 extra per car. otherwise per the above everything else was included as standard.

I think there is a runout night edition version for the coupe and cabriolet which come pretty much fully loaded.

The first thing I ever do is download the e-brochure. Tells you everything you need to know. Latest one here

That is very helpful thank you. It also reminded me I did see this ages ago and forgot all about it! That’s the problem with electronic brochures as opposed to print.

So what I have is the Night Edition Premium Plus and I do have HUD, but didn’t opt for the driver assistance. Black paint was indeed an extra!

Still intrigued about those vented seats, carbon steering wheel and other US options. I wonder if they were ever available here.

Hi. The carbon steering wheels and vented seats were never available for the C63 in the UK.

Thank you Gene. I am always interested in market differences between these cars, however minor. I wonder if the US got more colour choice exterior and interior also, for example. I found the colours quite limited, for example.

One of the joys of buying a new car should be contemplating (and rejecting!) interesting colours and options you don’t otherwise see. But the choice in the brochure/configurator was pretty much exactly what you see in the classifieds.

Choosing a 911, for example, you have a seemingly infinite number of option combos.
