Hi everyone,

New to the forum, thanks in advance for any help. This isn't my first Mercedes, but is my first AMG, and I am loving it.

My 2014 C63 AMG is low mileage at 30,000 miles. Service 'B' has been flagged on the dash. Had an MOT last week, all good with no advisories. Used TM Motors in West Molesey for the MOT after seeing their name recommended on here, but can't see if they are an AMG specialist or not. Happy with the MOT service.

I called my local Mercedes Garage, Epsom, and they have quoted me £799. This is for the 'B' service and 3 extras that need doing at 30k. 1) change brake fluid 2) new airfilter element 3) lubricate the panoramic roof.

My questions are three-fold. 1) Does this sound right and 2) how important is it to have Mercedes main dealer stamp in the service book? All previous services were done at Mercedes main dealer. 3) how much cheaper is an independent AMG specialist likely to be, if anything, and if the recommended route, who is the go to man in South London / Surrey region.

many thanks

Peter

1) yes

2) Relatively important, but there are just as good specialists out there

3) probably half the price

At 6 years old I'd say the most important thing is proof of work done (invoices etc) not necessarily by an MB dealer. £799 is a price-point number from MB marketing dept.
B service is basically the same as an A service with a more in depth inspection but no more parts. Annual MOT picks up on all the extra checks anyway (and more).
I don't change brake fluid every 2 years. I have it tested every year and change when needed.
Air filter change is a 20 minute job. Did mine today with a pair of Pipercross bought from a member.
Roof clean and lubrication is a 10 minute DIY job.

According to their website TM are MB specialists with Star equipment etc. I'd go and talk to them.

If you fancy a blat down the A3 and through the Hindehead Tunnel go and see Ollie and the team at Prestige Car Services :thumb:

£799 is a crazy price. Feel free to send me your reg and details - [email protected] and I can let you know how much it would cost here to give you an idea

I have to agree, £799 is just crazy for what is basically a few extra checks.
Most independents can register a B service on the MB portal anyway. I use my local indy and they up load the service and work carried out to the MB site to keep my service record upto date.
As mentioned things like air filter can be done your self to save a few penny's

Thank you all, really useful information here. Learning something every week about AMG ownership.

cheers!

Prestige Car Service Horndean is the place to go. Fully recommended.
In fact, i am going there on Thursday.

That would just be for a B service, not a B6 (IIRC) that the OP is due, unless of course you’re talking independent prices
Apologies yes Mercedes independent specialist. I tried to Mercedes main dealers up here before for servicing with another car, and found them useless.

Whereas the independent I couldn't praise highly enough, still using Merc parts and updating DSB.

I've just got a quote for a "B" service on my C250 of £476.00, no extras only covered 12000 miles. Took out a service plan , £50,67 a month (36 months) for 4 services , seemed the best way to go .
