I am collecting my new C63 on the 7th July, please can anyone tell me if it has the keyless-go system or if it's the bog standard fob?

Do you know which options you ordered? Is it a UK car? At least in Germany KG is an option for the C63.

Keyless go is not available in the UK for some reason

Might be an insurance thing.

in the UK, keyless go not available on new E class saloon, coupe or cabriolet either

strange. It's available on current soon to replaced CLS, and was available on the old E class saloon, CLK coupe and convertible

Thanks guys, that answers that question! I didn't order many options, just the COMAND system, Intellingent Lighting, 19" alloys and AMG mats.

KG isn't an option on the W212 either, which I was a bit annoyed about since they offer it in Europe and the US.

Just to clarify . . . . Keyless Go is incompatible with the deadlocks fitted in the UK for insurance (Thatcham) purposes on the C, E and E coupe. I'm not sure why they've done this but can only imagine it was an engineering error. Mercedes pioneered Keyless Go. Now that everyone is doing it (and managing to do so with Thatcham accredited deadlocks), they bring out a range that can't get it? That's poor.

I am not bothered, I'd be forever going back to the car to check it was locked and then it would open again!

I agree - not really an issue. But there is something kinda cool about hitting a start/stop button!

Hmm. I had it on my CL.

I found that because I tended to rest my hand on the top of the gear selector (where the start/stop button was) the car would switch itself off before I got it into Drive or Reverse...

Also, if you used KG to open and start the car, drove it, stopped it with the Start/Stop button then walked off, it wouldn't lock. You had to remember to lock it with the fob. Odd.

I think you're better off without it, imho. Just something else to go wrong...

Definitely agree that it's something else to go wrong. Still feels good hitting it to start the car!

On the E-class (where Keyless Go is available) you touch the inside of the exterior door handle to unlock (ie grasp the handle as normal) and the outside to lock (brushing the handle with the back of the hand is enough). Also, it is possible to pull the starter button out leaving the familiar starter switch to allow use of the key as normal. It's almost as if someone was ticking off all your objections. :thumb: Most of the innovations we now take for granted started out as "just something else to go wrong." I remember my father saying something similar before finally being persuaded to have a new fangled 2 speed fan heater on his Mk 1 Consul Cortina.

Ah right. Thanks. Maybe I simply didn't read the manual  ... or maybe "they" have in fact fixed it.

It did impress the kids though. I told them it was fingerprint technology and made sure I was far enough away (with the key in my pocket) that it never worked for them... heh heh

I love keyless go .. wonderful things and super cool.

Can you get 2-speed fan heaters now!!!??

LOL! Even carpet was only standard on the De Luxe. Such decadence was not for us . . . . the rubber mat family. And the (non-electric) windscreen washer squirter did, in fact, frequently go wrong. What a waste of money that was!
