Hi folks
A google seems to suggest my 2018 E Class Cabrio is safe to put through the automatic car wash. Is this correct?
Thanks

Not if you like your paint it's not.

Learnt my lesson with automatic car washes years ago when one covered my BR Green 820 vitesse saloon in microscratches, never been anywhere near one with any car since.

Find a decent hand wash place - we're lucky enough to have one nearby - and tell them to keep the pressure washer off the roof. I know our local guys (Tesco's car park, it's a Waves franchise, I'll use Tenterden but not Ashford Park Farm!), they use only Autoglym products, I "tested" them with the C220 first and eventually even trusted them to do the 968 cab, they've done the SLK once so far - but that's metal roof!

From the owner's handbook -

"To avoid damage to your vehicle when using a
car wash, ensure the following beforehand:
To avoid possible water ingress in the vehicle,
it is preferable to use car washes which
allow the high-pressure pre-wash to be deac‐
tivated (specification for the convertible pro‐
gram).
It is imperative to avoid a subsequent hotwax treatment."

But as others have said, just don't do it ...

I was trying to establish whether or not the roof would be waterproof in a car wash. I have always used car washes on all my cars, because all I am concerned about is having a car that appears clean from a general perspective.

I rang Mercedes who confirmed that a car wash is safe for a Cabrio and that they use them all the time.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply.

Just go through with the roof down, then the fabric will not get damaged..duur  ....
