caliper clearance

i trial fitted some Kerscher carmona 16" wheels to my 500SEC and they clear the calipers by a mere 3-4 millimeters. it looks like there is a bit of material on the calipers which i could file down but what is the minimum clearance you can reasonably run between calipers and rims? Im just worried about stones and stuff getting caught in the gap and gouging the inside of the rim

The clearance on my factory spec setup is just 3-4mm. No problems.
