At least they have a change interval....not just wait for them to fail like on a chain drive. Chain drives are noisier, less efficient and MUCH more expensive to change. And due to them worrying more about emissions most have gone to weaker single row chains rather than multi (or duplex) chains. I did the belt on my ALFA in about 2.5 hours (could have been less but I'm fussy and did a bit of extra cleaning and painting)....an easy DIY. I also did the chain on a customers 2.2 petrol version of the same car which is chain driven.....never again!!
If you are not a competent DIYer as an example AutoLusso in Bournemouth charge £350 to do a cambelt on my car......£650 for the chain version....The V6 version is more than double that!!
