As others have said YES you should get the gearbox serviced. My W211 (2009) 7 GTronic at 36,000 miles, but i believe the later 7 GTronic boxes had a longer service interval. Your local MB dealer or a good Indie should be able to offer definitive answer in respect of your vehicle specifically.
If not serviced the main issue is the conductor plate inside the gearbox failing requiring replacement which is expensive.
From what I've read MB have changed their minds a couple of times on this from sealed for life to once only at xxx miles to every xxx miles. The general opinion seems to be service every 36,000 / 70,000 miles depending on which version of the 7 GTronic you have.
The bulk of the service is changing the oil and filter and here there's a little catch, depending on the gearbox it may or may not be straightforward to drain the torque converter. as the gearbox and torque converter share the same oil you really need it all replacing so its worth checking on that. If its not straightforward expect a small premium for the additional time and obviously additional oil.
I'd also suggest you leave this to a good Indie or MB dealer as you'll be on the on-line electronic service record system and you should get the gearbox service recorded on that.
If the local Indie hasn't got a good rep ask around, worth editing your profile to indicate your general location.
