The CLS has an aftermarket rear number plate holder, and I'd like to replace the 3D plates with standard plates. The number plate holder has no manufacturer's markings on it, and looks like it comes apart in the centre of each upright, with two small slots 4mm long just above the join. I expect there's a key that would push into the slots and release a couple of catches so it can be removed, but I don't have two small screwdrivers the right size to do the job, and if I just apply more force (my usual technique...) I'll probably just break it.

Can anybody give me a steer on the manufacturer from the description?

Agree with the above, a small hobby screwdriver works

I actually fitted these type of holders to my S class only a month ago, I got them on ebay for about £25 or maybe a bit more, including the "key" , you can buy the "key" separately on ebay for about £6 I think

I just use any old flat head screwdriver. Push towards you on the top of the gap and then it if pivots forward

The top half swings up and the bottom half swings down. The manufacturer is Wurth, and I'll get a key, so I'm sorted. Thank you everybody.

Yep, mine are the same make, never needed a key before, a table knife can prise it open no problem :thumb:
